Over my career as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer, and as the CEO of Team Cooper Homes I’ve received a lot of recognition and numerous rewards. Special act awards, Sustained Superior Performance awards, Time off awards, heck I once was given the Federal Employee of the Year award (go figure). Then there’s the Multi-Million Dollar Producer award, several awards for listing a million dollars’ worth of property in a month, etc.
Well, recently I was given a couple of awards that mean more than any of the others. They didn’t come with a check or time off. In fact, they cost money and time. But none-the-less, they really mean a lot to me. Here they are!
For volunteer coaches, getting awards for coaching youth sports (which I’ve done for the last 13 years) is not really about the awards, it’s about the great kids we see grow from kids into young adults and even into adulthood. I am extremely proud of the kids I’ve been given the opportunity to coach. Great players, good players, average players and players who are just beginners, they all have a special place in my heart. Being able to make a positive difference with kids while having fun playing is a powerful thing. I encourage anyone that has the time or resources to coach or sponsor one of these teams to do so. Award yourself.
